I can't save anymore.

harveyvincent1 5 years ago updated by Tim Eckel 3 years ago 24

I tried to save my stuff and share it with my team member and it didn't work because I'm actually unable to save my project!

I have my account and everything, I've been able to save 4 times (v4 up top) but now the save button is grayed-out.

Dear User,

We are glad that you liked the product. Your comments about SqlDBM are very motivational and inspiring for us.

I have small request: We are at the stage where we trying to spread the word, basically let software development community know about this tool. It would be great help, if you can refer/share/endorse us on:

Thanks

Dear User,

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please provide little more details so we can track the issue: Can you provide screenshot of the issue?

FYI: Generally "Save" button is grayed-out in case there are no changes. You can try to move one of the table to trigger change, and see if "Save" button is available.

Do you have changes, in your model which are not being saved?

Thanks,

Good morning,

Unfortunately I can't provide a screenshot but I can help you with explaining what is the bug.

I figured out what was happening and it seems like after a long period of time without saving or modifying it, when making new changes, the save button (and save option in the navbar) stayed grayed out as if there were no changes.

When I shared my project, even though my page was full of changes, the system shared the last saved version and when I reloaded the page, the browser rendered the last saved version.

So I guess that the project timed out or something and didn't detect any changes even though I made some. I took a screenshot before refreshing the page so I can reproduce my old work, but I don't know if it's a real bug ?

It's probably my fault for not "refreshing the page" more often after not working on it for a while.

Other than that, I loved your product it's so useful, straightforward and beautiful too.

I had the same issue and lost all my changes

I'm having the exact same issue. I just lost 4 hours of work due to save button being greyed out! There is no way to get the save button back once it has become greyed out.

You need to lock/unlock often and test so the save button is not greyed out like every 10-15 minutes in order not to loose your work.

Next time I will look at the developer console and see if there is any js errors and post them if that is the case.

Thank you Patrick for reporting the issue. Also it would be great, if you provide us some developer console stack trace when you notice the error again.

We will investigate the issue and try to resolve it soon.

Thank - SqlDBM

It's very common it seems.  I've been working on a project.  There is no save options.  Even when I got into a new tab or browser, login, then go back to the project.  it's FAR behind from where I am.  I would send over the screen shot, but it has confidential business information on it.  It happens on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari. I'm on an Imac pro.  But it kind of sucks.  At least 3-4 hours of work isn't saved at this point and I kinda lost all of it.  But I was recording to teach someone else what I was mapping out, so I at least have what I wrote down.

I also had the same issue today.

I lost hours of work because of the failing save button.

Dear user,

We are currently working on this bug. Can you please give us details of how it happened. What browser you used? What OS? What DB type?

We do apologize for it. We will try to fix it as soon as possible.

This is simply insane... 5 hours of work thrown into trash... + the last half an hour when I simply couldn't believe that I can't save the progress^ trying anything I could possibly imagine, but the button stayed grey no matter what and everything is gone after a refresh.

Please please please fix this

And one more question.

Did it happen after the first revision you saved or not?

Same problem for me. Just lost 7 hours worth of work because the save button was greyed out. I assumed it was because it was auto saving... turns out, I was very very wrong.

Just happened to me again. I added a table, made a bunch of relationships, save button was still disabled. Refresh and I'm back to where I was.

we really appreciate your help. If it happens again, would please open developer console and send JS errors if any.

As we said, we are actively working on it.

Would it be possible for you (SqlDBM team) to provide a status update on this issue? Were you able to reproduce it?

Hello SqlDBM users,

We wanted to give you a quick update- the fix will be deployed within a few days. We do apologize for  the inconvenience.

Fixed

Dear User/s,

  Sorry for the inconvenience.

So far it has been very tricky to reproduce the issue on our side, because it is dependent on many parameters like Operating Platform , Browser Version etc.

Hence, we have pushed a fix for it, which is "If Save button is Grey, then there will be an option to Force Save the project". Following is the screenshot on what to expect:

Happy Data Modelling!

Thank you for your patience.

My save button is blue, but clicking on it doesn't actually save anything.  Still has a blue asterisk next to the project name and on my dashboard it notes it's a draft and that it's saved in the browser's cache only.
