Copy table or view
You can call the copy feature from the object context menu or use the "Ctrl+C" shortcut. Paste your copied object in the current diagram or navigate to a different diagram or project and paste it there. Use the context menu or press "Ctrl+V" to paste.
Copying differs from cloning in that:
• You may copy several objects, and relationships between them will be saved
• You are not restricted to the current diagram for pasting. You can paste to the current diagram, another diagram, or even another project with the same DB/DW type.
If you copy an object inside of a project, the suffix "copy" + auto incremental number will be added to the object.
If you paste to a project where the objects do not yet exist, the "Copy" suffix will not be applied.
Copy columns
Columns can also be copied, both within and between tables.
To copy columns:
-
Select one or multiple columns (Ctrl+Click) that you wish to copy
-
Drag the selected column(s) while holding the Ctrl key and place them in the target table.
Note that dragging columns without holding the Ctrl key will move the column instead of copying.
Create a diagram from selected objects
Instead of cloning or copying existing objects, SqlDBM also allows new diagrams to be created from pre-selected objects.
Select objects with holding Ctrl click the plus (+) icon at the diagram tab.
This option will not clone or create new objects, only a new diagram from existing ones.
Select multiple objects:
-
Individually using Ctrl + click
-
In bulk, using Shift + click & drag
